But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. - 1 Peter 1v15-16

without holiness, no man shall see the Lord.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord - Hebrews 12v14

42. Be wise as serpents, harmless as doves.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. - Matthew 10v16

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world - Philippians 2v15

not fools,

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. - Ephesians 5v15-17

gentle, meek, kindhearted, compassionate, merciful, forgiving.

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient - 2 Timothy 2v24

That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. - Titus 2v2

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. - Ephesians 4v32

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering - Colossians 3v12

So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. - Matthew 18v35

43. Old and young to be sober, grave, sincere and temperate.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. - Philippians 4v5

That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity - Titus 2v2,7

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ - 1 Peter 1v13

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour - 1 Peter 5v8

44. To be hearty in everything. "Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men."

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12v1-2

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men - Colossians 3v23

45. To be watchful, vigilant, brave, joyful, courteous, and manly.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. - 1 Corinthians 16v13

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. - Philippians 4v4

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. - 1 Thessalonians 5v6,8,10

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. - 2 Peter 1v5-7

46. Be sympathetic with others both in their sorrows and in their Joys.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. - Romans 12v5

47. All of you be clothed with humility, not proud, minding not high things, but condescending to men of low estate.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind - Luke 14v11-13

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear - Romans 11v20

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. - Romans 12v3-16

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. - Philippians 2v3

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering - Colossians 3v12

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time - 1 Peter 5v5-6

48. Be patient towards all, especially the weak and erring.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another - Romans 12v10

Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. - Romans 14v1

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. - Romans 15v1

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. - 1 Thessalonians 5v14

put away anger, wrath, bitterness, and all evil speaking.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice - Ephesians 4v31

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings - 1 Peter 2v1

49. Follow after whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseful.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4v8

abhor evil, and abstain from its appearance.

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. - Romans 12v9

Abstain from all appearance of evil. - 1 Thessalonians 5v22

50. Things not to be named, still less practised, among saints:adultery, fornication, undeanness, drunkenness, covetousness, wrath, strife, sedition, hatred, emulation, boasting, vain glory, envy, jesting, foolish talking.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. - Ephesians 5v3-4

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5v19-21

F. CONCERNING YOUR ACTIONS

51.Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. - 1 Corinthians 10v31

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. - Colossians 3v17

52. Live no longer the rest of your time in the indulgence of the lusts of the flesh, but in doing the will of God

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. - 1 Peter 4v2

reckon yourselves dead to sin but alive to righteousness

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6v11

doing the will of God from the heart

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart - Ephesians 6v6

henceforth live not unto yourselves, but unto him who died for you and rose again.

And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. - 2 Corinthians 5v15

53. Be zealous of good works, always abounding in the work of the Lord, wearying not in well-doing.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. - Titus 2v14

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. - 1 Corinthians 15v58

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. - 1 Thessalonians 4v1

And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end - Hebrews 6v11

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. - Galatians 6v9

But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. - 2 Thessalonians 3v13

54. Beware of false teachers.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. - Matthew 7v15

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. - Philippians 3v2

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. - 1 John 4v1

55. Beware of covetousness, lay not up treasure upon earth, be ready to every good work.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. - Luke 12v15

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal - Matthew 6v19

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work - Titus 3v1

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. - Hebrews 13v5

56. Give to him that asketh, and to him that is in need, visiting the fatherless and the widow in their afflictions, and give liberally and cheerfully, remembering that the Lord loveth a cheerful giver, and is well pleased with such sacrifices.

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. - Matthew 5v42

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. - Romans 12v13

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work - 2 Corinthians 9v6-8

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. - Hebrews 13v16

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. - James 1v27

57. Do not your alms before men, to be seen of them, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. - Matthew 6v1-4

58. Labour not to be rich: having food and raiment, be content.

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. - 1 Timothy 6v8

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. - John 6v27

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal - Matthew 6v19

59. Riches are dangerous, if they come to your hand, turn them into safeguards and friends by using them liberally in the Lord's service, whose stewards we are.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. - 1 Timothy 6v10,17-19

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. - Luke 12v18-21

And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. - Luke 16v9-13

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. - 1 Peter 4v10

60. Walk in the spirit: walk worthily, put off the old man of the flesh: put on the new man renewed in knowledge after the divine image.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. - Galatians 5v16-26

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. - Ephesians 4v24

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord - Ephesians 5v8-19

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds - Colossians 3v9
